Best Time to Visit Kvarner by Boat — Month by Month Guide

When Should You Visit?

Kvarner Bay's boating season runs from May through October, but each month offers a different experience. Here's what to expect.

May — Early Season

Air: 20-24°C. Sea: 18-20°C. Crowds: minimal. Prices: lowest. Perfect for sightseeing and exploring islands. Swimming possible but the sea is still fresh. Wildflowers everywhere. Best for culture-focused trips.

June — Sweet Spot

Air: 25-28°C. Sea: 22-24°C. Crowds: moderate. Prices: mid-range. The best overall month for boat trips. Warm enough for comfortable swimming, fewer tourists than July/August, and longer daylight hours. Our top recommendation.

July — Peak Season

Air: 28-32°C. Sea: 24-26°C. Crowds: high. Prices: highest. Hot, sunny, and busy. Main beaches are crowded — which is exactly why a private boat is the smartest choice. Your skipper takes you to hidden bays while everyone else fights for a spot on the public beach.

August — Full Summer

Air: 28-33°C. Sea: 25-27°C. Crowds: highest. Prices: highest. Similar to July but even busier. Book well in advance. The advantage of a private charter is most obvious now — escape the crowds entirely.

September — Golden Month

Air: 24-28°C. Sea: 23-25°C. Crowds: declining. Prices: mid-range. Many locals consider September the best month. The sea is at its warmest, the crowds have thinned, and the light is spectacular for photos. Highly recommended.

October — Late Season

Air: 18-22°C. Sea: 20-22°C. Crowds: minimal. Prices: lowest. Still possible and pleasant for boat trips, though swimming depends on the weather. Beautiful autumn colours and very peaceful.
